"Mean" Gene Okerlund presented his 'SummerSlam Report'. WWF Champion, Hulk Hogan, agreed to put his title on the line against "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. Okerlund also announced the main event for 'Saturday Night's Main Event' on August 10th - a handicap match pitting Hulk Hogan & "Superfly" Jimmy Snuka against "Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff, "Dr. D" David Schultz & "Cowboy" Bob Orton. Okerlund interviewed Hogan and Snuka about the match.
The Young Stallions (Paul Roma & Jim Powers) defeated "Playboy" Buddy Rose & "Crippler" Rip Oliver, when Roma pinned Rose.
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviewed "Macho Man" Randy Savage who spoke about WWF Intercontinental Champion, The Honky Tonk Man.
There was an advert for the August issue of WWF Magazine.
"Mr. Wonderful" Paul Orndorff (with "Cowboy" Bob Orton) pinned S.D. Jones.
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviewed Jimmy Hart and WWF Tag Team Champion, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine, about The Dream Team's (Greg "The Hammer" Valentine & Brutus Beefcake) Tag Team Title defence against The British Bulldogs (Davey Boy Smith & Dynamite Kid) at 'SummerSlam'.

The Iron Sheik (with Nikolai Volkoff & Slick) was slated to face Dusty Wolfe, but as Nikolai Volkoff began to sing the Soviet National Anthem, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, who was being interviewed by Craig DeGeorge, entered the ring with a 2x4 and ran off Sheik, Volkoff, and Slick. Duggan then berated Sheik and Volkoff on the microphone, and vowed he would never allow Volkoff to sing the Soviet National Anthem.
Tim Horner pinned Brian Costello.
"Mean" Gene Okerlund interviewed Ken Patera about "The Rock" Don Muraco, and Bobby "The Brain" Heenan. Patera challenged Heenan to meet him face to face for a conversation.
"Hacksaw" Jim Duggan pinned Black Bart.
